At Ecodana we think that what we do is more than just seek funding for great projects. We see this site as a place where people like you can come and gather information about environmental issues affecting rural areas around the world. We would like to create a global community that is committed to change. Having more individuals involved in the discussion only increases the odds of successful change.
ONLINE
- Send Ecodana e-cards to friends and family asking to donate to a project
- Create an Ecodana online gift registry in honor of a special occasion (wedding, birthday, holiday, etc.) such as CAUSES on FB.
- Set up an auction or raffle through Ecodana’s MissionFish, eBay’s fundraising engine for nonprofits
COMPETITIONS
Organize one of the following activities, charge admission and ask local businesses to donate prizes:
- spelling bee
- game night with parlor games / bingo night (poker, scrabble)
- casino night
- scavenger hunt
- checkers/chess tournament

BUSINESS
- Contribute a percentage of your small business profit to a project
- Create a “special” in your business of which a percentage of the proceeds will go to a project of your choice, i.e a dollar from every one of our special of the month sandwich sold will go to an Ecodana project. HERE is a great example of one such partnership.
- Start a “Pocket Change for Social Change” campaign- ask everyone you know to put their change in a jar and donate the money at the end of the campaign
- Sell a craft or art work and proceeds or percentage will go to a project of your choice. HERE is a great example of a Student Association that chose to fundraise for one of our projects.
- Hold a car wash
ATHLETIC
- Organize an informal relay or bike race
- Organize a ping pong tournament- participants pay a minimal fee to compete. The fees become the donations.
- Ask your friends to sponsor you as you train for a marathon. Our volunteer Chi is doing it in San Francisco : ) And so is donor Donna who will run the Missoula Marathon.
- Set up a golf tournament among friends and colleagues
CREATIVE
- Create holiday cards with photos from our projects (just ask us for them) and send them out to friends and relatives
- Organize a comedy show or concert
- Host a Karaoke Night for friends and family
- Host a Cocktail Party or a Tea Party
- Enlist friends to participate in a sponsored marathon or fundraiser
- Perform a special skill or talent, or recruit others to participate in a talent show
FOOD
- Host a wine-and-cheese party at your house
- Hold a Chili Fest or Dessert Night where different chefs compete, and charge admission
- Organize a cake walk or bake sale
- Invite friends over for a pancake breakfast
SOCIAL
- Have a happy hour at a local restaurant or bar and invite friends and neighbors
- Invite friends and family over for a movie showing and charge a small fee
- Initiate a holiday drive or Halloween trick-or-treat within your neighborhood, school, or workplace to solicit project donations
VOLUNTEER
Part of our mission at Ecodana is to connect people with sustainable projects around the globe. Many of our partners would love to have volunteers help them out. If you are travelling to an area where we have partners and you would like to volunteer please let us know and we will connect you with them.
